 Meet the Faculty
 Sarah Haslock-Johnson

Sarah Haslock-Johnson’s background chronicles 15 years of diverse dance experience. She is a distinguished graduate of the Royal Academy of Dance; London, England. Established in 1920, to improve standards and re-invigorate dance training initially within the UK, the Academy helps and encourages its teachers to perfect their teaching skills and pass on this knowledge to their students. It was at the RAD that she had the opportunity to study under some of the greatest practitioners and teachers of our time such as Dame Antoinette Sibley, Dame Beryl Grey, Pamela May, Frank Freeman and June Mitchell. Her teaching credentials include:
  • Diploma of the Royal Academy of Dance; 1993
  • Distinguished graduate and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance
  • Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance
  • Modern (jazz) Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance
  • National Dance Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance
  • Examined under Tamara Karsarvina’s Syllabus; exclusive to R.A.D.
Her unique qualifications allow her the authority to teach the coveted RAD education syllabi. Today the RAD has over 13000 teaching members responsible for the education of over 250,000 students in over 79 countries. It is the largest internationally recognized dance organization designed to advance the standards of teaching in classical ballet.

Upon graduation Sarah went on to accomplish a successful career in the entertainment industry in both the UK and Asia. She performed in numerous music shows such as the Brit Music Awards and MTV awards. She has also performed with great artists such as Simply Red, Boyzone and Robbie Williams. While in Asia she had the opportunity to work with Andy Lau, known as the “Quincy Jones” of the East.

It was during this time that she signed a recording contract with BMG records and went on to release an album with two other females. Her group, called NS2, performed in the UK and Asia in front of crowds of over 70,000! It was in Asia where she met her future husband who was a U.S Military Officer and eventually moved to the United States.

She gained extensive dance experience while in the UK studying, performing and choreographing with the Royal Academy. She participated with the Florida Dance Theatre, performing and choreographing numerous original works.

She has gained extensive experience instructing children over the years in various national and international settings. She was the department chair for North Atlanta High School’s dance program and extensively restructured their program. She was on faculty at Atlanta Ballet, and was most recently involved with American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Dance and Theatre Studio.

Under Sarah’s instruction several students have gone on to schools such as American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey and Joffrey Ballet; a tradition she fully expects to bring to the RDA.
